Why You Should Be Wearing Hats This Summer

We all know someone who doesn’t consider themselves a “hat person” for one reason or another, but we're here to tell you the reasons you should be grabbing one almost every time you head out into the sun.

Throwing on a hat can make getting ready simple
Lazy Days.
Woke up late? Can’t decide on a hairstyle? Just feeling lazy and not wanting to deal with your hair? Unless you are a super curly girl, and even then it can work, brushing out your hair and throwing on a hat can make getting ready almost too easy. You’ll probably be spending a lot of time outdoors anyway, so worrying about what your hair looks like after your hat comes off isn’t an issue like it is during winter.

Use a hat to add interesting color or pattern to an outfit
Add a statement piece
Don’t worry about whether you’ll be able to wear those shoes all day if you stay out longer than planned, or which things you’ll need to leave out of that purse all day.  Throwing on a hat can be an incredibly simple way to add a pop of color, a pattern, or unique shape to an overall “basic” outfit, and since it’s near your face people you meet are more likely to remember your super stylish hat than those cute shoes you wore.

Wear a hat to protect your face from sun exposure
Sun Protection
Quite possibly the most important reason on this list, skin protection from the sun is incredibly important, especially during the late spring and summer when the sun is at its harshest. Sun exposure is one of the leading causes of wrinkles and UV rays can damage collagen and elastin, leading to dull saggy skin. While most people know to put on sunscreen before sun exposure, many forgo wearing a hat or any additional physical protection from the sun. A wide brimmed hat is super stylish for summer, and will help add shade to your face, neck and chest while having fun in the sun.
